UNIT 249 SUPPORTS NEW BRIDGE PLAYERS

Your local bridge association, Unit 249, has several programs to help introduce new players to duplicate bridge.

Learning duplicate bridge may seem daunting but with some coaching and mentorship new players will soon find the joys and challenges offered by playing bridge.

Unit 249 subsidizes, Learn Bridge in Day sessions to help familiarize new players with the rules of duplicate bridge. These one-day sessions are free to attend.

Once individuals have completed Learn Bridge in a Day or other introductory bridge courses, a new player will receive four Free Play vouchers for a bridge session at your local club.

In addition, participating clubs will offer several Free Play vouchers(yellow in colour) designed to attract new players to their club. These vouchers may be used in one of two ways.

Up to four Free Play vouchers may be given either to club players to act as mentors to new-to-the-club players or directly to new-to-the-club players for their own use.  Eligible new players must not have played or taken lessons at the club more than once in the past year. New-to-the-club players can be assigned a mentor by their local club representative on request.

That's a total of four Free Play vouchers for a new player and four Free Play vouchers for a mentor of a new player, all provided by Unit 249.

The Unit also offers a Free Play voucher for a Unit 249 Sectional or Regional tournament when a player joins the ACBL. New members may join the ACBL at https://www.acbl.org/ or just contact the director at your local club.
